Tis’ the season! Exam season…

Exam Top Tips

Well, here we go again… Exam time!  Arguably the most stressful period within the academic timetable but we at the Students’ Union believe that, even with all of the turmoil that this year has brought, you can still excel.

Here are some of our top tips when it comes to this study period!

Top Tips

Start your revision early. Organise your study time and set out a study timetable if you have multiple exams.

Vary your revision techniques. Always doing the same thing, for example, reading over your notes on a subject, is likely to be quite dull. Spice up your study period by trying different exercises and techniques.

Take care of your health. Students who eat well and include more fruit and vegetables perform better at exams. It is also a good idea to take regular exercise when studying. A brisk walk, or more vigorous exercise, will get your blood moving and ensure that you are better able to concentrate.

Take regular breaks.  It is difficult to concentrate for more than an hour without taking time away from your screen or books. Take 10 minutes periodically to go and get a drink and walk around a bit.

Know your exam. Make sure that you have looked at past papers and discussed these with your peers.

Make sure you know the practical details about your exam.

Where and when  will it be held?

What equipment do you need with you?

If online, is your battery fully charged?

Personal Circumstances

If you feel like you’ve had unexpected things happen that have impacted your exam performance.  You can apply for Personal Circumstances

At present, all information should be recorded on Pegasus via the ‘Personal’ tab – no forms are currently being accepted. You should record this as soon as possible, to make sure your circumstances can be taken into account when your exam decision is being considered..

Supporting evidence should be scanned and emailed to personal-circumstances@strath.ac.uk.
