Freshers 2021: Coffee Shops

University and Caffeine go together. Even if coffee isn’t your preferred cup of tea, there are other beverages and refreshers to keep you going during the brutal study sessions. So grab your reusable cups and your study essentials and visit one of the many cafes in Glasgow.

 

Roasters

 

(Glasgow G1 1XN) – Roasters is our ground floor coffee spot, right beside Strath Union’s main entrance. They don’t take themselves too seriously, but it’s a different story when it comes to the range of beverages available!

 

Common Ground

 

(Glasgow G1 1XN) – On the corner entrance of the new Learning and Teaching Building is another space for a quick grab-and-go before your next class.

 

Spitfire Espresso

(127 Candleriggs, Glasgow G1 1NP) – An independent coffeehouse located in the heart of Merchant City serves excellent coffee and an all day breakfast menu.

 

Laboratorio Espresso

(93 W Nile St, Glasgow G1 2SH) – Bringing authentic artisan Milanese Espresso to Glasgow. Their traditional Italian blend is served at a fast-pace with a friendly service to replicate that uniquely Italian espresso bar experience.

 

The Good Coffee Cartel

(12 Cornwall St, Glasgow G41 1AQ) – Built with a purpose this shop on the Southside is environmentally conscious doing things a little differently in the speciality coffee industry.

 

Grain and Grind

(50 Battlefield Rd, Glasgow G42 9QF) – Located among Glasgow’s old Victoria Infirmary this bright, laid-back spot is perfect to enjoy well-crafted coffee and fresh seasonal dishes. 

It All Started Here

(75 Deanston Dr, Shawlands, Glasgow G41 3AQ) – A true multi-roaster speciality shop aiming to serve you coffees with a bold and interesting flavour profile it doesn’t disappoint.

Project by Dear Green

(60 Osborne St, Glasgow G1 5QH) – This pop-up by Dear Green is part of the creative community at South Block in the heart of Trongate. A one stop shop for all your needs!

Us Vs Them

(200 Gallowgate, Glasgow G1 5DR) –  Us vs. Them offers high quality coffee as well as consultations for businesses using all types of coffee equipment. They really know what they are talking about!

iCafe Merchant City

(70-72 Ingram St, Glasgow G1 1EX) – This multi award winning coffee house and internet café is great for in between classes to work on last minute deadlines.

Tim Hortons

(96 George St, Glasgow G1 1RF) – Just underneath the Livingstone Tower this well known Canadian staple is another great option in between classes.

Costa Coffee

(50 George Square, Glasgow G2 1EH) – Great coffee as well as delicious refreshing drinks. Offering food, a great place to study and of course coffee points with your costa card! 

Café Nero

(78 Queen St, Glasgow G1 3DN) – Amazing coffee and food as well as a great and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for studying. 

Waterstones

(153-157 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3EW, UK) – Offering two coffee shops within Waterstones, both of which serve amazing drinks and delicious food. Great for studying or just relaxing with a good book. Don’t forget your student member Waterstones card for extra points and a nice discount.
